Interactive surround soundscapes

Audio Visualizations

Project Walkthrough

This project aims to create an interactive performance containing 4-6 different soundscapes where the audience is going to experience the music in quadraphonic surround and real-time visualizations corresponding to the sounds. All sounds in the project are field-recorded samples and synthesized sounds. Through this project, I want to explore more of the music tech field, where I used surround audio, Dolby Atmos, recording techniques, and live loops to create an artistic performance and immersive auditory space for the audience.

It aims to present the symbiosis between human-made environments and natural ecosystems by placing factory, forest, underwater, and other sonic worlds in proximity. The work reveals the coexistence where industrial resonance, organic textures, and digital synthesis form a living, interdependent sound ecology.

Research Goals

This project explores the shifting interactions between humans and the natural world. The listener becomes a participant, a disruptor, and a cohabitant of this virtual space that I built. Field recordings in this context serve as an acoustic document that presents the natural world, in which I have done further research on related fields like soundscape ecology. On the human side, synthesized sounds layered with these real-world recordings echo the idea that human technology creates its own ecosystems, which both harm and support the natural world. This reflects the symbiosis between humans and nature.
